Due to an ongoing feud concerning the ownership of the rock, the giant letters written on the rock are from when the residents of Guatapé began to paint their towns name on it. However, a large crowd from the neighbouring El Peñol managed to stop it so only the ‘G’ and part of the ‘U’ were completed
