Meet the chefs

Jair and Sarah met in Jair’s hometown of Arequipa, Peru, back in 2000. They share a love of travel, trekking, food, partying and have spent the last 17 years fitting in as much of that as possible. Jair is trained as a professional, fine dining chef, but authentic home cooking always remains close to his heart (lucky for Sarah!) Jair’s delicious dishes are made from local produce which he collects himself when he returns home to Peru. A warm welcome is guaranteed as soon as you enter their home, look out for all their awesome photos and travel trinkets!

The Food

Jair and Sarah like to keep an air of mystery about their menu for the evening, so the exact dishes are top secret. However, be prepared for a flavour packed journey throughout Peru. With ingredients collected on Jair’s annual trip back home to Peru, this is not difficult- you will feel one step closer with every mouthful. Delicious dishes include octopus ceviche, anticuchos and mains incorporating the fluffiest Peruvian potatoes. With a real focus on flavour and a good kick of chilli, the food served up will definitely excite your taste buds and leave you wanting more. Dessert showcases the traditional fruits and flavours of Peru, such as zesty Lucuma and of course the odd splash of Pisco. Your evening is then topped off by totally delectable and technically challenging quinoa tuilles (featuring quinoa from Jair’s aunty’s garden). There will be dishes you have heard of and others that will be a brand new experience for you, so come along and give your taste buds an experience like they have never had before!

Why Peru?

From the peaks of the Andes to deepest, darkest Amazonian rainforest, there is huge geographical and cultural diversity in Peru. This is reflected in its ever evolving cuisine that hits the perfect balance between simplicity and creativity. From Inca inspired dishes served up in the Sacred Valley to refreshing Pisco Sours sipped back in Lima, food lovers are always spoilt for choice (and scenery). Our Peruvian Supper Club seeks to give you a taste of these flavours with genuine authentic dishes that bring you, and your taste buds, one step closer to this incredible country.
