Itinerary

Day 1: A Moroccan food safari

Settle into your art deco-style hotel in the centre of Marrakech before joining your fellow Flashpackers and guide for an intoxicating food safari through the medina. Soak in a riot of scents and colour before stopping at one of the stalls for a hearty Moroccan feast

They say the best way to learn is to dive into the deep end. Well, in Marrakech, you’ll be catapulted right into the spirit and magic of Morocco. Start in the iconic Djemaa el Fna square, a UNESCO Heritage Culture Centre in the heart of the city that’s alive with snake charmers, magicians, acrobats and hundreds of fabric and jewellery boutiques. If you want to adjust more slowly, retreat to your sleek urban oasis hotel, where you can relax and freshen up. You’ll then step out with your guide and newfound Flash Pack buddies for a Medina food safari through the maze of souks, gardens and food stalls piled high with enticing fresh spices. With all the smells wafting through the air, enjoy dinner here and watch the chefs cooking up a storm right in front of you. Camel burger anyone?

Day 2: All hail the hammam

Visit Les Bains de Marrakech, one of the capital’s best private hammams, to experience this sublime bathing rite first-hand. Grab a revitalising body scrub and wallow in the pools before haggling your way around the markets of Marrakech. Then, travel to the Atlas mountains and check into your Berber guesthouse, with sweeping valley views

This morning it’s time for some serious pampering in Les Bains de Marrakech , one of the city’s first (and best) private hammams. Make like the locals and get a proper scrub-down in this steamy bathing rite. Lose yourself in a tranquil maze of marbled pools and lantern-lit chillout spots, and grab a proper Hammam pummel-down to leave your skin properly tingling and fresh. Feeling revived and alive, spend the rest of the morning haggling your way around the streets of Marrakech. Once you’ve snapped up some souvenirs, the Majorelle Gardens are well worth a visit, with bold blue designs and the stunning Yves Saint Laurent memorial. This afternoon we’re leaving the city behind and heading to the mountains of High Atlas. Whether it’s the green valleys of the foothills or the striking higher ranges, the Atlas Mountains are one of the most beautiful regions of the country. We’re staying in a small, rural village, home to indigenous Berbers and breath-taking views. Wind down in your rustic guesthouse and enjoy fresh mint tea on the rooftop terrace. Those epic views are merely a snapshot of the delights that lie ahead…
