Mesdames et messieurs, are you ready for a taste of la belle province? Look no further than our weekend getaway to beautiful Quebec. With its cultural vibrancy and spectacular alpine landscapes, this French-speaking stretch of Canada is a cracking place to escape to if you’re overloaded at work. In easy reach of East Coast USA cities, it nevertheless feels markedly different, with vast wilderness playgrounds and a distinctly European air. Our action-packed adventure is filled with immersive experiences that will pitch you right out of your comfort zone. We’ll zipline around the verdant canopy of the spectacular Laurentian Mountains, and canoe and hike our way through Mont-Tremblant National Park. We’ll explore a wonderland of lakes and silver maple forests, with golden eagles overhead and white-tailed deer along the way. We’ll feast on a decadent three-course meal in the heart of Mont-Tremblant and take a foodie tour through Vieux-Montréal, Montreal’s historic old quarter. We’ll soak in the Gallic charm of one of North America’s oldest cities, and unwind in the gorgeous Great Outdoors that surrounds it. Throw your Smartphone to the wind: the adventure begins here.

There are direct flights to Montreal from: New York City, Boston, Washington DC, Chicago, Toronto (and many more cities) so this is the perfect weekend getaway for Americans and Canadians (or anyone else visiting these places from further afield!)

Itinerary

Day 1: BONSOIR, MONTREAL

Touch down in Montreal and be whisked by private transfer to your contemporary downtown hotel. There might be time for a few aperitifs and a taste of Montreal’s famously eclectic nightlife before you hit the hay

Bienvenue a Quebec! Montreal is just a few hours’ flight from many East Coast USA cities, so you don’t even have to use a day’s holiday to get here: you could just go straight from the office on an evening route. A private transfer will take you directly from the airport to your hotel, where you may still have time to enjoy a nightcap in one of Montreal’s many eclectic bars. One of the oldest cities in North America, Montreal is an ebullient mix of European and Canadian influences – with a distinctly Québécois spirit to boot. Montreal’s blend of cultural colours is felt everywhere, from the thriving restaurants of the Old Port waterfront to picturesque backstreet “ruelles” and converted industrial buildings. Quebecers are famously warm; in the second-largest French-speaking metropolis after Paris, it won’t be long before you hear a cheery greeting of “salut!” or “bienvenue” as you wander along the cobblestone streets. There’s a strong creative tenor, too. Writers, jazz musicians and local artists thrive here, often setting up studios in the lofts of old-brick townhouses. Depending on how late you arrive, you may want to join the party-goers with an aperitif or two. Or, you might prefer to retire and grab a good night’s sleep ahead of the action-packed weekend ahead.  Montreal is on the doorstep of some spectacular Canadian countryside, and we’re about to get right to the heart of it.

Day 2: THRILL-SEEKERS, TAKE FLIGHT

Break free to the wilderness of the Laurentian Mountains. Check into your luxury hotel at the food of the Tremblant peaks, before hiking through maple forest for an afternoon of zip-lining. Slice through the alpine air on a network of cables, and see the spectacular valleys unfold below you. Return to Mont-Tremblant for cocktails and innovative French-Canadian cuisine in a boutique restaurant

Rise and shine, Flashpackers! This morning, we’ll escape the city and head north-west to the Laurentian Mountains. This alpine corner of wilderness is an all-season playground for Montreal locals and visitors alike. Lush, green valleys dusted with pine-tree forests give way to rivers, gentle hillsides and majestic peaks. We’re headed for Mont-Tremblant, a colourful Swiss-style town nestled at the foot of the Tremblant summit, by the shore of Lake Tremblant. Take a walk around this charming town with your fellow Flashpackers, and grab some lunch as fuel for the adventure ahead. In the afternoon, it’s time to get your adrenalin pumping as we set out for an extraordinary flight through the forest canopy. Yes, it’s zipline o’clock! After hiking through the maple forest we’ll get started, attaching you to a labyrinth of cables that weave between mountains peaks. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of whooshing through the air, as a tapestry of woodland, hills and lakes unfolds beneath you. It’s one of the closest experiences you can get to actual flying, and the thrill is quite beyond measure. This is a great opportunity to bond with your fellow Flashpackers too, as you support one another and cheer on your teammates. After navigating a mind-blowing series of zipline routes, a well-earned reward awaits. We’ll return to Mont-Tremblant and toast our courage over cocktails and a lavish three-course meal. Sample the very finest of French-Canadian cuisine in a boutique restaurant, and say “santé!” to your Flashpacker pals.

Day 3: A RIVER ADVENTURE

Take a guided trek through the serene natural beauty of Mont-Tremblant National Park, before canoeing down Diable River. Pause for an al fresco lunch before more hiking through silver maple forest and mountain streams. In the evening, unwind in the elegant hotel spa or hit some of the lively local bars in Mont-Tremblant

Wake up refreshed amid the cool alpine air of Mont-Tremblant and savour a hearty breakfast, before setting out once more into the Great Outdoors. Today, we’ll be taking a guided trek and canoeing trip through Mont-Tremblant National Park. This area of protected natural beauty covers over 500 square miles of forestland, lakes and the rounded Laurentian peaks. It’s also a wildlife sanctuary for over 40 mammal species, including bears, wolves and moose. For the best possible vantage point of this unspoiled wilderness, we’ll spend the morning paddling down Diable River on canoes. No experience is needed for this gentle and serene river ride, so sit back and soak in the magnificent views. (Click here to read about fitness levels on Flash Pack adventures). As we meander down the river, we’ll pass secluded beaches, swathes of silver maple forest and the incredible cliff wall of the Vache Noire. After a good few hours on the waterways, we’ll pause for spot of lunch – and a chance to soak in the sunshine. Then we’ll head onwards once more, with a guided hike through the woodland of the National Park. Drink in the tranquil views of mountain streams and cascading waterfalls, keeping an eye out for native fauna, including the golden eagle and white-tailed deer. Back at the hotel, you’re free to spend the evening as you wish. Unwind in the elegant confines of the hotel spa, or hit up one of the local Mont-Tremblant bars for a locally-brewed ale or two.
