“When you travel with a circle of people around you of a similar age – all in their 30s and 40s – it becomes quite a cathartic experience. There was a sense of solidarity between us. We all had struggles and had been through similar rides in life, from professional challenges to more personal ones.
In an exquisite trip, one scene really stands out. We were on the beach on Ginto island, all eating lunch in front of this spectacular ocean view. I didn’t care who I was sitting next to: the food was awesome, I’d had a few days to settle in and everyone was great.”

“I think sometimes you forget what you’re truly capable of but Flash Pack’s social adventures have been a lifeline for me. Both escapes were amazing. I hit it off with my fellow travellers straight away, the group leaders were very supportive and the itineraries were packed and full of fun.
In Cuba, I went drumming, dancing and clubbing on the streets of Havana until 2am. I tried snorkelling and sea kayaking in the Bay of Pigs, too. My husband couldn’t believe it as I’m terrified of water. But there’s something about being in a new situation, with people you don’t know, that helps you push yourself beyond your limits. In Brazil, the fear-factor continued with a paragliding adventure above Rio de Janeiro; something the old me would never have dreamed of.”

He knew that me and another girl on the trip identified as LGBTQ+ One night he announced as a surprise that we were all going to a gay bar. We headed to this packed spot in the beachside neighbourhood of Seminyak; there were drag queens, lots of dancing and everyone had a really great night.”

“I’ve travelled with Flash Pack four times, to Myanmar, Jordan, Costa Rica and Turkey. The adventures are always lively with a balance of unique experiences. Some of the biggest highlights for me, though, can be found within the unexpected moments. In other words, it’s the encounters that aren’t listed on the itinerary – or those that go above and beyond my expectations – that I’ve really loved.
For example, arriving at a lavender field in the middle of nowhere, for wine-tasting in Central Cappadocia. The view over the tables was stunning and the whole spectacle was completely unexpected. My friend Vicky, who joined the trip with me, was so overwhelmed she started to cry. It was so beautiful.”

From a golden sunset on the rooftop of the Riad Bensouda hotel in Fez to stargazing in the Sahara desert and meeting a nomadic family living in the Tundra Gorge – and of course, the sidecar journey – my Moroccan experience was full of breathtaking moments.
