Camp atop a converted Land Rover in the Serengeti
Your Tanzania adventure starts here
Stay in a luxury Land Rover suites in the Serengeti
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
Hailed as the greatest show on Earth, the wildebeest migration in the Serengeti National Park is top of many people’s bucket lists – and you can move one step closer to the action with a unique Tanzania mobile camping safari. You’ll stay in the Bush Rover suites, a series of luxury converted, solar-powered Land Rovers that move in rhythm with the wildebeest.
Following the game across the great African plains, the location of this spectacular Serengeti safari camp changes according to the season, from Kusini in the south to the Grumeti River in the Western Corridor, and the ever-popular Mara River crossing. Each new setting offers a front-row view of the drama of the Great Wildebeest Migration, in a way that is fully immersive and off-the-radar from the crowds.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
This Tanzania mobile camping safari is brimming with opulent touches, from hand-drawn baths to campfire canapés and sumptuous five-course dinners – all conjured up in some of the planet’s most remote wildlife spots. But it’s the animals, of course, that are the real highlight of this Serengeti safari camp.
Depending on the time of year, you may catch the wildebeest calving season, or the high-stakes moment when these beautiful creatures dice with death by risking croc-filled rivers. There are dawn and twilight game drives, but it’s likely that your solo travel group won’t even have to leave the camp to see the migration in motion, as you’ll sleep alongside passing zebras, gazelle, lions, elephants, hippos and more.
WHAT OUR COMMUNITY SAYS
“We saw so many animals, including lions and leopards, as soon as we arrived in the Grumeti River region. It was such a rare and exciting experience – I quickly fell in love with the wildlife,” says Canadian photographer Connor McCracken, who traveled with Flash Pack to Tanzania. “Often, we’d be surrounded by thousands of wildebeest. It was quite dramatic as you never knew what direction they might turn next.”
“Wherever our Bush Rovers are based, the nighttime soundscape is always exhilarating”, says David Guthrie, who runs the Tanzania mobile camping safari for Flash Pack. “You’re surrounded by this constant barrage of bush noise, from grunting wildebeest to yelping hyenas. My favourite moment is when we all gather around the campfire, with stars all around. You forget about the banality of life and just connect with one another in the wilderness.”
